cindy

cindy sherman.
a photographer that's interesting to say the least. all her work consists of sherman using herself as her own model with wigs, makeup, costumes, lighting and photographic effects. This transforms what would be a self-portrait into an interesting study of characters and sometimes stereotypes. either you really look at it, or you look away. i just can't stop looking.

"I like making images that from a distance seem kind of seductive, colorful, luscious and engaging, and then you realize what you’re looking at is something totally opposite. It seems boring to me to pursue the typical idea of beauty, because that is the easiest and the most obvious way to see the world. It’s more challenging to look at the other side." -CS
